The most popular sport to bet on is football. Every football enthusiast loves to place a bet from time to time. The game is just more fun to watch when you can actually win something if your team succeeds. If you are not familiar with football betting lines and football odds, there is nothing to worry about. Stay tuned to this article and find out everything you need to know about football betting. It will be more than enough to get you started.
Football Betting Markets
If you want to bet on football you should understand football markets. You are probably familiar with 1×2 football betting. It is the simplest bet out there. You just have to a team that you think will win. One (1) stands for the host, two (2) stands for away team while X stands for a draw.
Besides that, betting on football bring a lot of other possibilities. You can bet on things like total goals, correct score, first goalscorer, half time result, full-time result, handicap betting and so on. However, the most important thing is to find the right match to bet on.
International football betting is the best way to bet on football. The odds are always high and underdogs can easily win against favourite teams. However, international championships occur only once in 2 years so you can’t always bet on it so we need to find some alternatives.
Premier League matches always come with high football betting odds because the league is popular and a lot of people bet on it. The only league that comes with higher odds than Premier League is Champions League. Champions League betting is something you should definitely try. Each match comes with special betting markets and a ton of possibilities. The odds on this league are always high and you can make a good profit out of it.
Types of Football Betting Odds
Online football betting often comes with different odds. You probably have a hard time understanding some football betting markets you are not familiar with. There are usually 3 types of odds.
Fractional Odds (British Odds)
British bookmakers often use fractional odds. Those odds look like a division with 2 numbers, something like 5/1 (five to one). It actually means that you will win $5 for every $1 you stake. If you stake $10, you will win $60 ($50 profit + $10 stake).
Decimal Odds (European Odds)
Decimal odds are easiest to calculate. You just have to multiply your stake with odds. For example, if you stake $10 on 2.00 odds, you will win $20 (10*2). If you bet on 2 events on a single ticket, you just multiply the odds twice. For example, if you bet on odds 2.00 and 1.50 and you stake $10, you will win 10*2*1,5= $30.
Moneyline Odds (American Odds)
The odds for favourites are accompanied by a minus (-) while the odds for underdogs are accompanied by a plus (+), indicating the amount won for every $100 staked.
For example, if the odds on underdog team are +350 and you stake $100, you will win $450 ($350 profit + $100 staked). On the other side, if you bet on a favourite team and the odds are -320, you have to stake $320 in order to win $100.
Tips for Football Betting
There are a ton of football predictions that can be found online. You can easily google football odds today or football betting tips and see odds and tipster predictions for every single match. However, it is not always smart to believe everything you read online. I personally like to make my own analysis before betting on any match. Look for everything you can find, from statistics, previous head to head matches, current form to injured players and so on. After you make an analysis, go and check what others think. If you think the same then you made a good job and probably a good bet. Never check football predictions before you make your own analysis because it can cloud your judgment.
